Organizer Julie Menin says it's a way for New Yorkers to feel a sense of unity with each other. The terror attacks killed more than 2,700 people in the city.

Menin says Hand in Hand participants can volunteer for service projects in the area.

A website where people can sign up is expected to go live on Thursday.
