Mayoral candidate Brian Bowman wants the Selinger government to give Winnipeg a greater share of provincial sales tax revenue.

The Winnipeg lawyer said Thursday that if he's elected mayor on Oct. 22, he'd work collaboratively with Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger to ensure the city receives a greater share of the proceeds from 2013's one-percentage-point PST hike.

Bowman made the promise north of the Manitoba Legislature, hours after fellow mayoral candidate Robert-Falcon Ouellette made a similar pledge northeast of the Legislature.

Both candidates said they will succeed where previous mayors have failed in attempting to convince the province to part with more revenue.
