Judy Wasylycia-Leis still has a 16 point lead in Winnipeg’s mayoral race, according to a unique crowd-funded poll released Thursday afternoon.
Among decided voters, Probe Research’s poll suggests the former NDP MP is holding steady with 39 per cent of the vote.
Gord Steeves is in second place with 23 per cent of the vote, while lawyer Brian Bowman trails at 16 per cent.
Robert-Falcon Ouellette enjoys ten per cent of the vote while Coun. Paula Havixbeck trails badly at seven per cent.
Twenty-eight per cent of respondents were undecided, though two months remain in the campaign.
The poll was conducted over the weekend using a custom online panel and has a margin or error of +/- 4 per cent.
To help fund the poll, Probe asked the public to donate to an Indiegogo campaign. Nearly 40 donations came in. The largest were from the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg and Manitoba Forward, a new public policy citizens’ group.
Also released Thursday was a poll commissioned by online news outlet ChrisD.ca which also gave Wasylycia-Leis a strong lead among decided voters. But, the second place position differed.
Wasylycia-Leis had the support of 34 per cent of decided voters, followed by Bowman at 20 per cent, Steeves at 19 per cent, Ouellette at 10 per cent and Havixbeck at three per cent, with others at 13 per cent.
But, a significant number of respondents - 39 per cent - were undecided.
