Winnipeg residents can pick up sandbags from the city to protect against overland flooding from melting snow.
City of Winnipeg officials said sandbags are available for pickup from 1220 Pacific Ave, 849 Ravelston Ave. W., and 1539 Waverley St. between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. In a statement, officials said the sandbags are meant for property owners to protect against overland flooding from the spring melt -- not for property owners who may need to sandbag due to high river levels.
Winnipeg officials are still analyzing the province's revised flood forecast, and will provide further info for property owners affected by river levels once it is complete.
City crews are working 24/7 to clear snow and ice away from curb inlets and culverts. Property owners can contact 311 if they have a problem with a frozen catch basin or culvert that is a threat to their property.
