U.S. flood forecasters have once again downgraded the expected crest of the Red River in Fargo this weekend.
The U.S. National Weather Service said it expects the Red to crest somewhere between 39 and 40 feet on Sunday, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reported.
That’s down from a previous prediction of a 39- to 41-foot crest.
The record crest in Fargo, set in 2009, was 40.84 feet. The city is protected against a 42-foot crest, just to be safe.
The Forum also reported a 73-year-old Minnesota man died while sandbagging on Wednesday in a community on the northern outskirts of Fargo-Moorhead.
