Get a sneak peak at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival this week, right here at www.winnipegfreepress.com.
Tune in at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for broadcasts from the Winnipeg Free Press News Café. We’ll be sitting down with Canadian artists, magicians, actors and actresses who will each perform a short but sweet act from their Fringe performances.
On Wednesday, catch Chase Padget from the band 6 Guitars. Padget will be performing as 6 different guitar players, each with their own voice and music. The performance will be followed by Travis Bernhardt, a magician from Unpossible!
On Thursday we’ll hear from May & Alia from the play Pirates of Penzance. They will perform with the help of puppets and music. And, after four years of touring across Canada, Julia Mackey will be performing a scene from the play Jake’s Gift, about a Second World War veteran from Manitoba who is leery of returning to Juno Beach for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day.
On Friday we’ll watch Rani Huszar perform a scene from the comical play La Charade, about the cast of a variety show that gets knocked out leaving only two people to perform. But the show must go on! We will end the day with Hot Thespian Action. The fab five will incorporate mime and comedy in their performance.
Don’t miss it!
