2-Man No-Show
The Winnipeg debut of Toronto’s 2-Man No-Show is nothing to look forward to, based on its Montreal performance. To say Ken Hall and Isaac Kessler’s helter-skelter 60-minute act appeared ad-libbed is no compliment. It seemed as if the men got the word to go on 10 minutes before curtain and tried to improvise the first thing that came to mind.
There was initial curiosity owing to the physical disparity of this Mutt-and-Jeff duo: the four-foot-nine Hall dwarfed by his towering six-foot-plus partner Kessler. They attempt a not-very-funny skit with Hall playing the live dummy to Kessler’s ventriloquist (although Hall has a hilarious moment dancing and romancing a chair).
The two men have a strange chemistry but no show. So that’s what the title means.
