All-New Misadventures of a Massage Therapist

Winnipegger Jason Brasher admits last year’s fringe show — Misadventures of a Massage Therapist — was his attempt to get on stage and talk about his life as he would with some friends over a beer. Call it mission accomplished.

Brasher is a natural storyteller who can turn anything into a yarn. His new misadventures deal with performing last year’s show, a semi-disastrous trip to Thailand and his sleep habits. The many tales made his family and friends in the crowd laugh, but even his infectious charisma and million-watt smile aren’t enough to wring laughs out of most of these anecdotes. Maybe some beer would have helped.

There were exceptions, of course, most notably his impression of the first time he had sex and his examination of a picture of a goat wearing pyjamas. And it takes a truly brave man to talk about attempted anal sex with his mom in the room. Bonus half star.

From the official Fringe Festival guide:

Best of Fest, Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2009

"Gift for gab, engaging presence, mischievous streak a mile wide" - Winnipeg Free Press

The misadventures continue with stories of how "not" to prepare for a Fringe Festival, insulting the crowd, travelling to Thailand, accidental marriage, strange sleeping habits, online dating, the sex life of a massage therapist and goats.

Yup... goats.
