Dodger is an angelfish who has a tough time keeping up with his school chums because he is "built for looks and not for speed." His buddy Beau has the lips of a young Angelina Jolie, and he has to keep reminding everyone that he’s "a dude." Life at fish school can be kind of a pain, so why not seek out the legendary Wonderstar and see if a well-phrased wish can change a few things?
That’s the scenario for this dazzling black-light-and-neon underwater quest. This Winnipeg puppet production is populated with no fewer than 11 glow-in-the-dark characters, including a lively lobster and a too-handy octopus. Some work on the script could make the discovery of the Wonderstar and the lesson of the story quite a bit more satisfying, but most kids will be too preoccupied with the visuals and the fart jokes to mind very much.
