A Procrastinator's Guide to Depressive Masturbation
Poor Lewis. Even his happy endings are depressing.
Lewis is such a sad sack he could make Kleenex shed a tear. He never achieved any of his dreams, works in a dead-end job and has trouble with girls. He’s on the verge of suicide and only a group-therapy session with an audience can stop him — or delay him for an hour, anyway.
Wilson Pimentel is a compelling presence and his 60-minute monologue is never dull as he relates why he’s so down. He hates dealing with the questions “How are you?” and “What have you been up to?” since he’s not well and hasn’t been doing anything interesting at all.
Even his masturbation sessions — a normally happy time in a guy’s day — are rooted in despondency.
Pimentel had the audience in his grip right up to the end with his amusing and pathetic anecdotes, then shifted gears in the last few minutes, out of the blue, for an almost unbelievable all-too-tidy conclusion.
As he explained earlier, sometimes the climaxes can be messy.
— Rob Williams
From the official Fringe program:
Lewis is depressed. Lewis is really depressed. I mean, really, really depressed with his life.
Come join Lewis' show celebrating the hilarity of depression, failure, lowered expectations, procrastination, and yes . . . depressive masturbation.
Did I mention that he's not that happy with his life?
