"Silly is our game." That is an accurate sum-up of this 60-minute two-hander presented by Winnipeg’s Sydney Hayduk and Christy Taronno. But it is also charming and downright funny in its own convoluted way.
There’s just a faint whisper of French clowns in the atmosphere of this quest story with its performers clad in black and white stripes. Armed with a red accordion (trés Gallic), a guitar and some magic glasses, Janis (Hayduk) and Jujube (Taronno) are sent on a slightly musical quest to help a 10-year-old boy named Daniel. Along the way they encounter a hilarious bearded lady and a Teutonic DJ named Mimi.
For all its silliness, including an unnamed movie reference, there is something about these performances that is just so disarmingly feminine and appealing. This show gets an E for Everybody.
