God is a bit of a jerk with no ears and might not really exist at all. Lucifer is emotionally crippled, and tired of being misunderstood, pushed around and blamed for God’s bad deeds. These are a few of the ideas presented in this thought-provoking 75-minute, locally produced multimedia dramedy that marks the playwriting debut of local actor Andrew Cecon.
Cecon uses a mixture of philosophy, slam poetry and monologues as devices to tell the story of a battle between God and Lucifer (Claire Therese and Rob McLaughlin, respectively) for the affection of innocent human, Jon (Johnathan Bevan). The chemistry among the talented crew shines bright as they tackle some heavy theological issues, but ultimately we don’t really care what happens to Jon; however, you might end up having some sympathy for the devil.
