The King’s Head Pub (Venue 14) to July 23

Frantic freestyle improv-meisters Crumbs are in fine form for their fourteenth Fringe festival foray.

The "Greatest hits" title refers more to the team’s trademark style than a particular skit. For those who haven’t seen these fan favourites yet, this involves taking only a few words from the audience and spinning them into two complete stories, presented in alternating scenes. On opening night, they impressively turned "frying pan" and "skiing" into the comeback tale of a famous chef who has lost his love of food and the romance between a failed Olympic skier and his girlfriend, who becomes the success he never was (!).

Players Stephen Sim and Lee White are joined by DJ Hunnicut, who reads these two almost as well as they play off each other, and assembles a scene-specific musical score on the spot.

For comedy buffs, it’s a joyride. For improv students, it’s even better -- they could save tons o’ cash on lessons just by watching these guys do their thing.
