Cat Ladies, Cougars and Crones (oh my!)

Winnipeg writer-comedian Selene Paul wrote and performs all the roles in this comedy, and she imbues a few ancillary characters — particularly a dizzy, rollerblading stripper — with comic energy and distinct personalities.
Too bad a pair of main characters fall flat. Divorced, man-eating cougar Lisa and her mousy cat-lady sister Nicole are virtually indistinguishable save for Lisa’s incongruous Jersey Shore accent. When they spend a revelatory afternoon visiting their feisty grandmother at a retirement home, the titular crone plans to make them feel guilty for neglecting her. But the sisters are too busy bemoaning their bad luck with men to pay her much mind, at least until the old lady delivers a truly funny message.
