Haters gonna hate. And reformed slacker J.D. Renaud shares a litany of hateful things in this 60-minute multimedia comedy. He hates a certain song, a particular DVD and the fact his fringe show is sure to get three-star reviews. But it’s all good. Hate gave his life focus, driving him to move to Winnipeg to pursue a career as a writer, visual artist and comedian.
Renaud connects the dots with stories and videos, some of which are amusing and absorbing enough to warrant the time devoted to them. More of that focus would up the ante, but he hits paydirt with a faux TV commercial for an ’80s album of punk rock hits.
