Son of Warehouse (Venue 5), to July 23

If sweetness and charm were the sole factors in making a fringe show great, Everything You Always… would be pure gold. The comedy’s creators and stars, Los Angeles-based duo Shelby Bond and Vinny Cardinale, are terrifically appealing performers. They also have a funny idea for a show — have an audience text their questions about love and sex to them live. Unfortunately, appeal and potential have yet to completely gel in this new work.

The two have entertaining songs and funny PowerPoint slides to illustrate their “expertise” in these matters, but they often don’t have enough to say in response to the texts to bring it all together.

The quick-thinking humour needed to go all the way with the show hasn’t cohered yet, leaving the audience a little unfulfilled.

From the official Fringe Festival program:

Shelby and Vinny (formerly of Sound & Fury) know everything about love and sex, even if they're totally wrong. With songs, dance and candid conversation, they'll answer anything you have to ask.
