FIDEL CASTRO'S GUIDE to INTERNET DATING

OK, so there’s not much about Fidel Castro or even Internet dating in this grab bag of original songs by talented Winnipegger Adi Sara Kreindler. The singer/songwriter sits behind an electric piano in a sparkly black dress and offers up a few lines of fringe-ish patter between her wide-ranging musical numbers, but comedy is not her forte.

It ain’t theatre, either.

But this former university prof has a strong voice, a lovely face, and clever lyrics — everything from Medusa’s problems meeting nice men to a little tango number about academia called Sponsoria — and somehow she makes the decidedly old-fashioned 50-minute set appealing.

From the official Fringe program:

With her wicked wit and piano stylings, Adi Sara will remind you of Tom Lehrer, only prettier.

This Winnipeg original has been leaving a trail of standing ovations.

Join her for a look at postmodern love, the energy crisis, bourgeois hypocrisy and unusual dietary experiments.

PLUS: sultry jazz, haunting ballads, stirring marching songs, crime, passion and more!
