In the bizarro world created by this impressive Toronto sketch comedy troupe, doctors attempt to create a hive mind among audience members whose collective thoughts are then played out on stage. Kudos to the twisted humour at play in the nonlinear Frenzy Saves Your Brain, which is topped occasionally by striking visuals that wow the audience.
There’s a clever scene involving a James Bond-ish secret agent engaged in an aerial fight as he plunges to Earth before a billowing white sheet signals his parachute has opened. The strangest interlude involves a doomed family of balloon-head mannequins punctuated by a hilariously long death scene.
The experiment must be deemed a success as Frenzy’s unconventional mind meld unlocks a comic cache that appeals to both your brain and funny bone.
