The Greek gods are about to smite Athens after it descends into debauchery, and two slaves — one a Type A suck-up (Blake Williams), the other a slacker (Tristan Gilmour) — must save the city.

Four Edmonton boys, some of whom are also in Spiral Dive, have put an Office Space spin on the classic Greek epic, and it’s pretty good post-beer-tent fun.

There’s a fair bit of frat-boy humour — dangling fruit pinned to gitch, the obligatory lisping gay boy and some humping. It needs a serious edit, and some of the performances are uneven. But it’s also a genuinely original premise and uncommonly well written (if a little wordy). Hermes (actor-playwright Ryan Ash) spewing Enron-style corporate jargon is sharp, and Adrian Glass as the unionized eyeball monster is also funny.

When all of Athens stops working, the gods decide to "downsize" the city (which is Greek for “murder and destroy”). The only two who can save Athens are forced to rendezvous with a myriad of career-driven Greeks, gods and monsters on the path to their destiny.
