This workmanlike production consists of two one-acters unrelated to each other in theme or style, except they are both written, directed and acted by University of Manitoba theatre students.

Ken Rudderham has penned the first one, a noirish detective drama about two cops investigating a serial killing in a prostitute-friendly rooming house. Five U of M students do a reasonable job with the clichéd material.

The second piece, by Megan Andres, is about two sisters, one a prig, the other a lush, in conflict after the death of the mother. Actors Christine Reinfort and Andrea Karr do better at navigating their way through a script that starts as sitcom and ends as psychological horror.

Andres shows some flair directing both. But even this one is best enjoyed by friends, family and budding playwrights.
