Steve is a slack-off writer/poet who just can’t seem to sober up. He’s lost both his girlfriend and his dignity while peering through the bottom of a bottle. His talent and his publishing contract are next. But he just might stand a chance if he can pull himself together and pull off a win at the Inkwell Poetry Contest.
Winnipeg poetry slam champions Aaron Simm and Steve Locke (Steve) combine spoken word with action in this rhythmic tale of redemption and responsibility.
Although the show is somewhat uneven, both actors show a great facility with language here, plundering words for their image and meaning. This 60-minute experimental work about a “Captain Morgan going down with his ship” is right at home on a fringe stage.
