Vancouver long-form improvisers Devin Mackenzie and Tom Hill take a single audience suggestion from the audience and spontaneously create a one-of-a-kind 45-minute comedy. As is often the case, the meandering story is like following Alice down the rabbit hole. What starts out with a guy who wants to be a Subway sandwich artist takes many side trips, some forgettable, but some humorous.

One of the highlights, or at least something you don’t see every day, is a confrontation between a cobra and a pet rabbit that involves one of the ad-libbers eating the other. The impromptu show feels like a dream in which the details are sketchy but you definitely remember someone portraying a crab, seaweed and fireworks.

Not sure this duo of make-it-up-on-the-spot artists will stand out among the many improvisers doing their thing at the festival but they were able to hold the interest of the crowd throughout. Not always the case at this festival.
