Jokes my folks never told me

If local comedian Fred Heinrichs prefaced every joke with, ‘Have you heard the one about ...?” the answer would be yes more often than not.

Heinrichs has an ethnic joke or shaggy dog tale for every occasion — provided that occasion was in the ’60s. But you can’t fault him for false advertising. He clearly states in the fringe program that he’s an old guy who’ll “probably” tell old jokes.

There are a few new groaners; the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico comes up in a punch line. And Heinrichs is personable enough to get away with all that recycling. He’s sorta like your joke-collecting uncle at Thanksgiving — he just never gets around to passing the turkey.
