A last-minute shift of venue location didn’t hurt this wonderful musical offering one bit. In fact, vocalists Melanie Gall and Bremner Duthie look quite fabulous against the pale yellow brick wall of the Conservatory.

The classically trained singers take on the music and stories of France’s Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, intertwining them with their own delightful tales of the troubadour’s life on the road. Both are charming and their chemistry is as sparkling as Gall’s soprano. They seem to continually raise the bar for each other as they sing their way through 10 pieces, including Duthie’s forceful rendition of Brel’s Les Toros and Gall’s delicate version of Piaf’s La Vie en Rose. Warmed with their easygoing humour, these splendid vocalists give a bravura display of amazing colour and dynamic range in this must-see show.
