John Hirsch Theatre at MTC Mainstage (Venue 1), to Saturday

Dr. Tannenbaum (Brittany Powles) is living in a world where people rely entirely on prescription medication and technology to function and to "feel." He is assigned the task of curing the rampant depression that plagues these people before it’s too late. He dozes off and wakes in a dream world populated by swaying trees and talking herbs, where he is told by the creature called Womed (Naomi Cronk) he must somehow get in touch with himself in order to be cured.

This Winnipeg-produced fantasy, which is riddled with new-age aphorisms, wins points for costuming, set design, music and vocals (which are all quite lovely). But this show meanders… a lot. For a really long time.

— Wendy Burke

From the official Fringe Festival program:

Come and observe Dr. Tannenbaum, a scientist from a world dulled with technology and pills, who embarks upon a surreal dream journey.

A whimsical sensory experience, with live music, luscious visuals, and a wild and energetic cast of creatures, Oh, Tannenbaum! is a fairy tale for modern times.
