A beautiful and devastating drama, Orphans is the tale of two brothers who have been orphaned since childhood and the father figure who fleetingly visits their lives.

Big brother Treat (Justin Fry) has been caring for Phillip (A.J. McCulloch) almost his whole life. Treat supports the brothers with petty thievery and protects the innocent Phillip by keeping him illiterate and afraid of the outside world. Enter the also-orphaned Harold (Bill Kerr), whom Treat brings home to rob, irrevocably altering the lives of all three.

The material is both darkly comic and deeply moving, and first-time fringe directors Kevin Ramberran and Thomas Toles handle it with the skill of much more experienced hands. But Orphans would be nothing without its actors and this cast is sublime.

Abandoned by their father and haunted by the death of their mother, Treat and Phillip have been Dead-End Kids for over two decades. Phillip remains isolated from the outside world, spending his days memorizing brand names and imitating Errol Flynn movies. Treat, on the other hand, enjoys outdoor activities like kidnapping a Chicago gangster named Harold. Harold, an orphan himself, becomes an intimidating employer and mentor for the two lost brothers.
