What’s in a name? In the case of Australian Jon Bennett’s one-man comedy Pretending Things are a Cock, just about everything.

Yes, the show is about Bennett travelling the world and taking photos of various objects protruding from his groin. Whether it be the Statue of Liberty or Machu Picchu, Bennett has been there, done that. Why? Not even he is sure.

However, the stories behind his photos, told with affability and sweetness, belie the crassness of their subject, although one wishes Bennett could move the show beyond its slideshow feel and really dig into his comedic and storytelling abilities. But, if Bennett can win over his minister’s wife mother to the cause, there’s no doubt he can win over any audience.
