Veteran improv team Shawn Kowalke and Luke Falconer have structured their latest fringe entry around the premise of the NHL playoffs, with each donning a team jersey and battling it out in the comedy rink.
You don’t need to know the difference between Bettman and Babych to enjoy the hour-long show, though. The likable duo had everyone on their side Friday and the laughs came as hard and fast as a Zdeno Chara slapshot during a variety of games decided with a plastic baseball bat.
Improv is about thinking fast on your feet and the duo was able to shift gears at the drop of a puck. A “serious” bit turned into a bit of cracker torture for Kowalke and they even managed to whittle down a random fringe show in the program to two minutes (and less).
The Horrible Friends score with this show.

2 guys, 1 cup. Winner take all. Come cheer on your favourite team as Shawn and Luke battle it out for improv supremacy and the biggest title in hockey. Starting with 16 teams, each show is a playoff round culminating in an amazing best of four Stanley Cup final ... the other 3 games were lost to the lockout. Damn you Bettman!!!!
