Three young local improvisers — Adam Drory, Tristen Foy and Lukas Conway — choose a video-game gimmick wherein you, the audience, are at the controls of a 45-minute story... in that you choose a hero and a setting to navigate.

The choose-your-adventure approach to improv has been known to fail at the fringe, but this trio brought it off on Friday afternoon with a “haunted mansion” setting and a comic assortment of characters, including a bus-driving heroine named Michigan Molly and sundry Gothic characters including zombies, a lovable bat, and an evil intern.

The video-game device is not inappropriate. Improv, like a video game, can take you to some time-wasting loops and dead ends, but these guys navigate past those potential obstructions with wit and a bit of charm in their Super Mario tool belts.
