Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION
Set in a slightly sinister Dirty ’30s travelling sideshow, this blend of live action, dance, trick body costumes and nifty shadow puppetry tells the story of Lucy, a small-town girl who joins the circus after failing a ballet audition. But this is no common carnival. It’s a collection of misfits and freaks, all ruled by the bitter “Magician,” who is rumoured to make people disappear... for good. When Lucy’s becomes the Magician’s favourite performer, her long-sought star status puts the others at risk. Will she choose fame over friendship?
The large, 10-person cast handles the performance admirably, particularly Nick and Steph Dupuis as the bickering co-joined twins, who steal almost every scene they’re in. The convertible sideshow wagon -one of the most impressive props you’ve ever seen at the fringe — it’s almost worth the price of admission alone!
A family-friendly fantasy that will delight young and old. Step right up!
— Janice Sawka
