The Good, The Bad, and The Stupid

The Good, the Bad and the Stupid is a western-themed clown show that skimps on the “good.”

The San Francisco troupe’s three males and one red-cheeked female clown perform a series of circus acts, including a lame horse race, group juggling and acrobatics, but none of it stands out or particularly entertains. There should be a program warning that the hairy, paunchy strongman will bellydance.

Beware of the audience-participation segment in which a couple of unfortunate souls are dragged onstage, where they are made to carry balls by butt-clenching them as they waddle across the stage.

The welcome for The Good, the Bad and the Stupid dies long before the extended death closes this trying performance.

This review was based on a performance at the Toronto or Montreal Fringe Fest.

From the Fringe program:

This summer, the US-based clown ensemble Pi: The Physical Comedy Troupe brings the wild west north.

Incredible acrobatics, high-speed horse races and duels to the [overly dramatic] death await you in this fast-paced circus and comedy explosion.

So saddle up and trot on down for some side-splitting comedy by the Pi Clowns.

Winner: Best of the Fringe - San Francisco

Recommended For: General Audience

Length: 60 min

Tickets: $10
