Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION
The Imaginary Canoe Ride with TiBert le Voyageur
The fringe meets Festival du Voyageur in this freewheeling, educational work by local performer Robert Malo.
Evidently a veteran of many school performances, Malo plays TiBert, a voyageur who fell asleep by the river for 200 years and awoke to perform songs, tell stories and pass around various pelts to the audience.
This 45-minute piece is more suited to the kids fringe venue. The outdoor Steinkopf Gardens venue is also a pedestrian thoroughfare and has its distractions.
Malo handles it all with a teacher’s patience and knows enough to adapt his performance to his audience according to age and linguistic preference.
