Ton Frère/Your Brother
Written, directed and performed by high school students from Ste. Anne (and presented in both French and English), Your Brother tackles the subject of teenage homosexuality in a way that would make any guidance counsellor proud.
It’s the After School Special of the new millennium, where the young adults take control of the product. It’s a noble effort; these young writers and actors wear their hearts on their sleeves, tackling the subject with both humour and the best intentions. While their execution and script lack the finesse only experience can give them, they are taking important first steps and should be applauded for their efforts. These young adults will be able to write some kick-ass “what I did on my summer vacation” essays this fall.
