Maggie and Mindy (Kaitlin Aiello and Rachel Smith) are two fussy, bickering travel companions who happily share their world travel tips ("Dress like a tourist so you’ll always stand out!") with spectators in line even before the doors open.
But then these fun characters are dropped in favour of Aiello and Smith alternately presenting various short monologues on facets of travel, accompanied by physical theatrical exercises. And while many of the observations made are sweet, funny, relatable and well presented, the end result is a 45-minute laundry list of travel stuff that doesn’t go nearly as far as it could have.
The local performers have a winning concept with Maggie and Mindy, and when these two funny ladies returned at the end, the people filing out actually stopped their exit to watch. I’d venture a future show of the Travels and Maggie and Mindy would be worth the trip.
