This Old West tale by Toronto’s Sex T-Rex collective sets off a relentless and entertaining stampede of cowboy clichés.

Watch Out Wildcat! is galloping good fun, as a vengeful young woman sets out on the trail of the devil who sent her father to Boot Hill. The hour-long oater by Seann Murray lovingly incorporates every beloved western trope, from lynching and quick-draw duels to tumbleweeds and the hero trotting off into the sunset. There is even an homage to spaghetti western director Sergio Leone and his extreme close-ups from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Director Alec Toller rides his five-member cast hard and the action scenes are cleverly conceived for maximum humour. Kaitlin Morrow’s heroine is feisty and fabulous, while Conor Bradbury and Murray are macho and mysterious. This is the way the west is won at the fringe.
