Guitar, gold ring could be yours for helping Pennies
Are you with me tonight?
Tonight, Doc Walker will play this year's Pennies from Heaven theme song Beautiful Life during their concert at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre. Maybe I will see you there.
But even if you aren't there, someone out there will soon be the proud owner of a beautiful guitar signed by the guys in Doc Walker -- Chris Thorsteinson, Dave Wasyliw and Murray Pulver.
Or, for those who like a bit of sparkle in their Christmas stocking, you could be sliding on a beautiful ring courtesy of Ben Moss Jewellers.
Yes, it's time once again for our annual fundraising event to help raise money to assist the people who would otherwise go hungry this year and wake up on Christmas morning without a present.
Prize No. 1 is an acoustic guitar. It has the signatures of the three members of Doc Walker, who have won accolades and numerous awards across the nation in recent years with their Manitoba country sound.
Need I say more?
But there is more. That's because our generous friends at Ben Moss Jewellers have joined our Pennies campaign once again and contributed a piece of jewelry.
And what a piece it is.
It's a 10-karat white gold Rose de France amethyst and diamond ring and, if you were to buy it, it would cost you $519.
In case it needs to be resized, Ben Moss will do that for you, too.
The rules are simple: You have to use the original ballot that goes with this column and will be attached to future columns as well. You have to check off which prize you want to be in on (it can be both if you want).
And, most importantly, because Pennies after all is a fundraiser to help the Christmas Cheer Board and Winnipeg Harvest assist the people they do, I strongly encourage you to send in a donation with your ballot.
After all, every time you look at the autographed guitar on the wall or the ring on your finger, do you really want to think, "I got this, but I didn't help any of our hungry?"
So what are you waiting for? Ballots have to be in by Dec. 23 at noon for the draw.
Until then, I'll be humming Beautiful Life.
