Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION
Your Turn: Share your vision for the rail yards
How yould you transform the CP rail yards? Shopping? Attractions? Parks? Roads? Schools? Affordable housing? Hipster condos? Tony new suburbs? We want to know.
Share your design ideas with the Free Press, and we'll share them with the world later this summer.
Download the map and details about our project in PDF format. Break out your pens, pencils and rulers and show us how you'd change the space. If you prefer to work digitally, here's the map in .jpg format.
Not sure where to get started? The map includes a small legend showing the size of an average house, school or grocery store, and Polo Park Shopping Centre -- just to give you the idea of the size of the space.
You can also check out the Yards of Reports we're accumulating to see what others have already proposed for the site.
Once you've got your plan sketched out, bring a paper copy to our public forum and design summit at the Free Press news Cafe on Tuesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. (Facebook event listing here). Everyone is welcome to help brainstorm.
If you can't make it on July 31, scan or save your plan and send it to us at webnews@freepress.mb.ca, or mail it to us at Off The Rails, 1355 Mountain Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2X 3B6.
If you have any questions, story ideas or angles you think we should tackle, we want to know. Email maryagnes.welch@freepress.mb.ca, or join the Twitter conversation with the hashtag #railyards.
