Court told Phoenix's skull showed previous injuries

Phoenix Sinclair suffered an injury to her skull in the weeks before she died, a court was told today.

Showing a photograph of a section of bone taken from Sinclair's skull, Prof. Deborah Merrett, a biological anthropologist formerly with the University of Winnipeg, told a Court of Queens' Bench jury that most of it showed evidence of a recent injury.

Merrett said based on her experience the section of Sinclair's skull showed "an injury happened at least two weeks before the time of death."

The first-degree trial of Karl McKay and Samantha Kematch continues today.
