Rondeau team bursts into applause after victory

  • Print

NDP incumbent Jim Rondeau's headquarters at 851 Cavalier Drive burst into wild applause Tuesday night as Rondeau was announced the MLA of Assiniboia for a fourth term.

"It was amazing to have a great competition and that I beat Susan Auch," said Rondeau. "And thank God it was summer so she couldn't skate faster than me."

With one poll left, the numbers were at 3,618 for Rondeau and 2689 for Tory Susan Auch, who many thought would give Rondeau a tight race.

Rondeau hugged the approximately 50 people and campaign workers at his headquarters individually, thanking them and the voters for their support

"If Jim hadn't won I would have lost faith in humanity," said Orma Sozansky, a campaign volunteer.

"He works hard and he deserves it. He's been in for three terms already and he's worked like a dog through them all. He never lets up."
