Politics

Rossmere is a bona fide swing riding, moving back and forth between the Tories and NDP since it was created in 1969. It has had some well known MLAs in its history, starting with NDP premier Ed Schreyer for the first decade of its existence. Current federal MP and Public Safety Minister Vic Toews was the MLA here for one term between 1995 and 1999. The NDP have held it since then. In 2007, the NDP’s Erna Braun won with more than 60 per cent of the vote.
