This riding sits in the south quadrant of Winnipeg tucked along the Assiniboine River between River Heights and Charleswood.
It includes the far western edge of River Heights, all of Old Tuxedo, and South Tuxedo, and the far eastern edge of communities such as Elmhurst and Varsity View.
Although it has the fourth highest median income of any riding, Tuxedo also has a surprisingly high poverty rate, with almost one in five kids under six living below the poverty line.
It has the third smallest aboriginal population in the province. It has the fourth oldest median age. The riding has a large Jewish population.
Median age: 44.1
Immigrants: 17.1 per cent
Aboriginal population: 3.0 per cent
Living in poverty: 14 per cent
Median income: $33,400
Around since 1981, the riding has only ever elected Tory MLAs.
For the first 19 years of its life, it was the home riding for Premier Gary Filmon. Heather Stefanson has held it for the Tories since 2000.
The NDP had a surprisingly strong showing in Tuxedo in 2007 with a very young, unknown candidate -- but this is generally seen as a safe seat for the PCs.
