Politics

This is an interesting riding politically for a number of reasons.

As a new riding it is hard to judge exactly how past results will affect it. Inkster, the riding from which Tyndall Park draws from the most, was one of only two ridings which voted Liberal in 2007.

However, the last MLA who served Inkster was Kevin Lamoureux, and his wins were as much about his personal popularity and connection to the community as the Liberal party.

As well, Lamoureux himself acknowledged many of the parts of Inkster which voted for him did not move to Tyndall Park but rather to Logan.

All that said, this is a seat the Liberals will want to keep but one the NDP could potentially steal. The NDP do not have a lot of room to add seats to their count so it’s a rare target for them.

Inkster had one of the best turnout rates in the province.

2007 results (Inkster)

Kevin Lamoureux, LIB 3,962

Romy Magsino, NDP 2,358

Roger Bennett, PC 543

Turnout: 61.43 per cent
