Way over the hump!
Friday was officially hump day for United Way of Winnipeg – marking the middle of our 2009 campaign for lasting change and better lives.
In the same way it occasionally takes a little extra push to get past the proverbial Wednesday hump day, Winnipeggers’ wholehearted support pushed us through the mid-campaign point, helping us raise more than $11 million – 62 per cent of our total fundraising goal of $18.2 million!
Each year, more than 1100 workplaces and thousands of Winnipeggers support United Way’s campaign. Many joined us Friday at United Association Local 257 to hear news of our mid-campaign progress.
With half the campaign still to go, we’re counting on all Winnipeggers joining our journey to a safer, healthier Winnipeg – for everyone who lives here.
Anybody can make a difference, every gift has an impact and our community is counting on everyone working together to ensure the programs and services our friends, family, co-workers and neighbours are counting on remain stable and available precisely when they’re needed most.
Speaking of resources available when they’re needed most, as thermometers creep towards freezing, United Way’s Koats for Kids program is launching its 21st season on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Join us for the press conference at the brand new Koats for Kids Volunteer Centre, 3172 Portage Avenue.
Check United Way’s website for details.
Stay warm!
