Every corner of Winnipeg

I love my job as United Way’s 2009 Campaign Chair! I get to meet so many people from every corner of Winnipeg.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, I joined young business and community leaders for United Way’s second annual Red October reception, hosted by our GenNext council.

It’s great to see so many people between 25 and 40 who want to get involved in shaping our community. With these folks as our leaders of tomorrow, we’re in very good hands!

Last week, I joined members of Winnipeg’s labour community for their official campaign kickoff at Union Centre.

This is a particularly special year for working Canadians everywhere, marking the 90th anniversary of Winnipeg’s general strike. That very famous, very influential event paved the way for lasting change and better lives.

The unions that gained strength as a result went on to become founding partners in United Way of Winnipeg, where they continue to support lasting change and better lives.

United Way’s second report session on Friday, October 23 will celebrate and recognize working heroes throughout Winnipeg for their contributions to our community.

Everyone is invited to join us from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at U.A. Local 254 on Higgins Ave. Visit United Way's website for details or call (204) 477-5360.

Hope to see you all there!

Jeff
