Besson a finalist for a second Sovereign Award

Allan Besson, who retired last fall as a sportswriter at the Winnipeg Free Press, has been selected as a finalist in the Outstanding Newspaper Story category of the Jockey Club of Canada's 2011 Sovereign Awards.

Besson's story which was published on Aug. 26, 2011 with the headline Hard work no problem, mon is one of three finalists. Besson won the award in 2007.

The 37th annual Sovereign Awards ceremony, which honours Canadian champions in horse racing, will be presented on April 5 at the Woodbine Race Track in Toronto.
