"Ø"Ø ABOUT THE OILERS

The Oilers were punished at home Saturday night, falling 6-0 to St. Louis as Blues' forward Chris Stewart finished with a hat trick. Edmonton, now 11-24-3, has lost a season-high six in a row and was shut out for the third time in its last five games and the sixth time this season.

"I'm pinning this loss on the boneheaded mistakes we make when we have everything going in our favour," Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said after watching Edmonton out-shoot St. Louis 14-5 in the first period but be down 1-0. "It is like we love misery. It's like, 'Oh hold on a second, things are going too well here. Let's have some misery.'

"I've had enough misery already and we've got some players who have been here for a number of years that have to be done with it. There has to be a change in the commitment level and the accountability from within the room."

Edmonton is just 2-7-1 in its last 10 and have the NHL's worst home record at 5-11-1.

"If I was the coach I think I would have been tearing the whole room apart," David Perron said after the loss to the Blues. "He's still trying to figure it out himself, too. People have to get pissed off in this room. We just take it. Everyone has to get pissed off."

The Oilers' special teams are middle of the pack, the PP ranked 17th and the penalty kill 10th.

Edmonton has the worst GAA average in the NHL at a whopping 3.44; L.A., by comparison, is first overall at 1.82.
