-- Three of the four Manitobans selected for Hockey Canada's Team West, which will play in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's 2010 World Junior A Challenge, Nov. 8-14 in Penticton, B.C., hail from teams in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Goaltender Matthew Krahn of Winnipeg and forwards Ryan Marshall of Ste. Rose du lac and Mitchell Van Teeling of Virden are the MJHL representatives.

Krahn plays for the OCN Blizzard, Marshall for the Swan Valley Stampeders and Van Teeling for the Dauphin Kings.

The fourth Manitoba, forward Brendan O'Donnell of Winnipeg, is with Penticton of the British Columbia Hockey League.

Canada West will play in Group B, joined by Russia and Switzerland, while Canada East, Sweden and the United States will comprise Group A. Round-robin play will run until Nov. 10, with both semifinals Nov. 13.

The gold-medal game will be shown nationally on TSN and RDS on Nov. 14 (check local listings for broadcast times).

-- Headingley's Ricky Weiss, who calls Red River Co-op Speedway home, was crowned king of the hill earlier this month when he drove his late model car to the WISSOTA national points championship in Fargo, N.D.

Not far behind was another Manitoban. Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg finished in fifth place with 1,630 points.
