  • Print

Two high-school badminton stars were honoured for their sporting achievements this week.

College Louis Riel singles player Renee Kielich was named the Home Run Sports Urban High School Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, after capturing silver medals at recent tournaments in Carman and Gimli. The Grade 12 student also competes in soccer.

The Tri-Star Rural High School Athlete of the Week honour went to senior Bill Heard of the Carman Cougars. Heard, together with his partner, won gold at every tournament they have entered as a mixed doubles pair this year, including tournaments in Gimli, Louis Riel and Carman. Heard also plays hockey.
