Bisons women's hockey season starts this weekend
The University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team begins the 2012-13 Canada West conference season Friday and Saturday at home as the team hosts the Alberta Pandas at the Max Bell Arena.
Games begin both nights at 7 p.m.
In a 2012-13 pre-season Canada West coaches’ poll, Alberta was ranked second while Manitoba was third.
Canada West has added a new team from Mount Royal in Calgary. The regular-season schedule has increased by four games for a balanced 28-game schedule.
This season the Bisons have added six new players to a group that will be led by sole fifth-year player Nellie Minshull. There are 11 players on the 22-player roster in their third and fourth years.
This month, the Bisons will host three of the next four weekend series at home, hosting Alberta, Mount Royal and defending Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Canada West champion Calgary.
