Bruneau appointed executive director of Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association

The Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association has appointed Carlo Bruneau as its new executive director effective Feb. 12.

He joins WYSA from the Manitoba Soccer Association where he served as special events and competitions coordinator for the past five years.

"I am thrilled to take on this role leading WYSA. Soccer is the most popular youth sport in Winnipeg and the level of skill and competition seems to improve every year," said Bruneau. "We still have lots of room for improvement though and I look forward to working with staff, clubs and community centres to enhance how WYSA administers its leagues."

WYSA is the largest youth soccer league administrator in Manitoba. In addition to managing all premier, premier-developmental and developmental leagues (from ages 9 through 18), WYSA oversees recreational soccer leagues for community centres from ages 13 to 18. It also supports district soccer associations who administer the recreational leagues for ages 9 through 12. In recent years, WYSA has managed high school indoor and outdoor soccer leagues and has played a key role in bringing soccer programming to disadvantaged
